I never really gave the term "Spring fever" much thought. But as one ages, certain terms begin to mean different things. This winter my husband and I spent the winter in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. I took a contract with an air ambulance company as a flight nurse. I was able to travel extensively, while also caring for people. It is a dream job for a travel gypsy nurse like myself. Fraught with all the non-patient care woes that nurses have these days, the benefit of travel made it fun and I love nursing.
It has been a long winter however, and as the days pass, I am ready to be home. Typically we spend the spring doing general maintenance and work on the house and grounds. This year John and our son went up early and were able to accomplish a lot of the clean up work. This head start should give plenty of time to sort sheets and towels, buy inventory and plan and bake home baked treats for our guests. Soon the summer season will be here and we will welcome guests from all over the world into our home for the summer. Hopefully we will get the garden started and launch some projects we have been working on for some time to utilize the barn. So lots going on.
In the fall when I begin to line up nursing work for the winter, I am always asked why I didn't work over the summer. That question always makes me laugh (not really). Just because it isn't nursing, doesn't mean I am not working. We love the B&B service and our home. Hopefully that love shows when people come to visit. This time of year I cant wait to get started! ~KS
